Antalya Airport to Kaleiçi (Old Town) Transfer

Kaleiçi means "inside the castle", and the name fits: the district is wrapped in old defensive walls that have sheltered Antalya's harbour for centuries. Inside you find restored Ottoman and Greek houses, boutique guesthouses, craft shops, cafes and small museums, all within a compact area you can explore on foot.

Visitors come for the atmosphere as much as the sights. Hadrian's Gate marks the grand Roman entrance, Hıdırlık Tower watches over the cliffs, and the old harbour below is the launch point for boat trips along the coast. Evenings are lively, with rooftop restaurants looking out over the marina and the Taurus Mountains beyond.

It is the most walkable, most photogenic corner of central Antalya, which is exactly why so many travellers base themselves here rather than in the larger beach resorts.

The drive from Antalya Airport to Kaleiçi is short and straightforward. After leaving the terminal your driver joins the main D400 coastal highway heading west toward the city centre, a route that stays on good, well-lit dual carriageway for most of the journey.

The roughly 15 km trip normally takes about 22 minutes. As you approach the centre the road skirts the edge of the old city, with glimpses of the Mediterranean on one side before the streets narrow into the historic quarter.

Kaleiçi itself is largely pedestrianised, so the vehicle can only reach the outer gates and squares such as the area around Hadrian's Gate or the upper town. From there it is usually a short, flat walk to your accommodation, and your driver will help you get your bags as close as the lanes allow.

We keep pricing simple and fixed per vehicle, one way, not per person. An economy car for up to three passengers starts from €14, and a Mercedes Vito minivan for larger groups or extra luggage starts from €18. The price you are quoted is the price you pay.

Every booking includes a meet and greet in the arrivals hall, where your driver waits with a name sign, plus free flight tracking so a delayed or early landing is no problem. Child seats are provided free of charge on request, so families travel safely without lugging their own.

There is no prepayment required. You pay the driver directly at the end of the ride, in cash or by card, and the fixed rate already covers tolls, parking and waiting time.

Pack with the cobblestones in mind. Kaleiçi's lanes are charming but uneven, so a suitcase with sturdy wheels or a backpack makes the final walk from the vehicle much easier.

For the airport run home, book your return transfer in advance and allow time to walk out to the meeting point, since the driver cannot enter the pedestrian core. We will confirm a pickup time based on your flight and the typical 22-minute drive.

Kaleiçi is also a great base for exploring nearby. Konyaaltı and Lara beaches, the Antalya Archaeological Museum and the Düden Waterfalls are all short hops away, and we can arrange onward transfers to any of them whenever you need.

Antalya was founded in the second century BC by Attalos II, king of Pergamon, and Kaleiçi grew up around its natural harbour. Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman rulers each left their mark, which is why a single short walk can take you past a Roman gate, a fluted Seljuk minaret and Ottoman timber houses.

You do not need tickets to wander the streets, the harbour or the walls, and a half day is enough for a relaxed first look, though many people happily spend longer. The small museums and a few interiors charge modest entry fees.

The area suits families and all ages, but be ready for slopes and steps down to the marina. Comfortable shoes, water in summer and an early start or late afternoon visit will keep the heat and crowds manageable.
