Antalya Airport to Kalkan Transfer

Kalkan is a small town on the coast of the western Antalya province, set on a steep slope that runs down to a sheltered bay and harbour. The old centre is a maze of narrow lanes lined with restored stone houses, many now home to boutique hotels, rooftop restaurants and small shops, while a marina sits at the bottom by the water.

Visitors come to Kalkan for a calmer, more refined kind of coastal holiday. It is known for its clear, deep-blue water, its many rooftop and waterside restaurants, and as a base for boat trips along the Lycian shore. Unlike the big package resorts further east, much of the accommodation here is in villas and smaller boutique properties.

The town also works well as a gateway to the wider Kaş & Kalkan area and the ancient Lycian sites scattered along this coast, which makes a comfortable door-to-door transfer a relaxed way to start the trip after a long flight.

The drive from Antalya Airport to Kalkan covers about 210 km and takes roughly 180 minutes in normal conditions. After leaving the terminal, the route heads west, skirting Antalya and then following the main coastal road towards Kemer, Kumluca and Finike.

From there the journey continues along the western Mediterranean through Demre and Kaş, with long stretches of scenic coastline, pine-covered hills and the Taurus Mountains close to the sea. Some sections are winding as the road climbs and descends along the shore, so the final part of the drive is slower than open highway, but the views over the bays are among the finest in the region.

Much of Kalkan's appeal is the water itself. The bay in front of the town is deep and clear, and many hotels and beach clubs offer platforms and sunbathing terraces right at the sea, since there is little natural sand in the town centre. Swimming, paddleboarding and short boat trips are all part of a typical day here.

The best-known beach in the area is Kaputaş, a small cove of pale sand and bright turquoise water set at the foot of a gorge on the road between Kalkan and Kaş. It is reached by a long flight of steps down from the coastal road and is busiest in the summer months, so an early visit is more relaxed.

The season runs broadly from late spring to early autumn, when the sea is warm and the skies are reliably clear. Bring sun protection, water shoes for the pebbles at some spots, and a little cash for the beach clubs, and arriving rested after a smooth transfer means more energy to enjoy the coast.
