Antalya Boat Trips: A Practical Guide to Cruises and Bays

The most accessible option leaves straight from the historic harbour below Kaleici, Antalya's walled old town. These cruises are short and gentle, usually one to a few hours, sailing past the Duden waterfall that drops into the sea, the cliffs of Lara and the Konyaalti shoreline. They suit families, older travellers and anyone short on time, with no long road transfer needed. Expect calm decks, music, a swim stop or two in summer and easy views back at the Taurus Mountains rising behind the city. Boats depart frequently in season, so you rarely need to book far ahead. It is the simplest way to get on the water if you are staying central in Antalya.

Kemer, about 45 minutes west of Antalya, is the home of the lively pirate-themed boats. A typical trip lasts around six hours, leaving Kemer Marina and stopping at Phaselis ancient city, Cennet (Paradise) Bay and Lovers Bay. You swim in clear sheltered water, see Roman aqueducts and the old agora at Phaselis, and a BBQ or buffet lunch is usually served on board. These boats are loud, fun and family-friendly, with foam parties and music aimed at kids and groups. The coast between Antalya and Kemer is naturally sheltered and stays calm from April through October, making this one of the more reliable choices early and late in the season.

Suluada is a tiny uninhabited island off Adrasan, famous for white sand and bright turquoise shallows that earn it the nickname Maldives of Turkey. Tours leave from Adrasan harbour, roughly 90 km from Antalya, so the day starts early with a 1.5 to 2 hour transfer. The boat ride out is about 40 minutes, and the route takes in American Bay, Love Beach, sea caves and Lighthouse Bay with several swim stops. Lunch, often chicken schnitzel or fresh sea bass with pasta and salad, is included; drinks are extra. Boats run daily April to November, typically departing around 09:45 and returning by 17:00. It is the most scenic open-water trip from the region.

Kekova lies further west toward Demre and is the area's history-rich cruise. Glass-bottom and standard boats glide over a partly submerged Roman and Byzantine settlement, with house walls, stairways and harbour stones visible beneath clear water. The day usually pairs the sunken city with the village of Kalekoy, crowned by a Lycian castle and rock tombs, plus swim stops in sheltered bays. Because Kekova is a long drive from central Antalya, most travellers join an organised day tour or break the journey with a stay nearer Kas. It is the best choice if you want archaeology and turquoise water in equal measure, rather than a party atmosphere on board.

East of Antalya, near Manavgat and the Side resorts, the Green Canyon offers a different kind of boat day. This is a freshwater reservoir backed by pine forest and steep cliffs rather than open sea, with cool, deep emerald water. Full-day cruises run around ten hours including transfers, with swimming, optional cliff jumping and a lunch stop. The scenery is dramatic and the water is noticeably cooler than the Mediterranean, which is welcome in high summer. From the Alanya and Side side of the bay, lively pirate-style boats also run along the coast with swim stops, BBQ lunches and music, mirroring the Kemer format but on the eastern shore.

The core boat season is May to October, peaking in July and August when the sea is warmest and seats sell out fastest. Book popular trips like Suluada or the pirate boats a few days ahead in summer. Bring sunscreen, a hat, a towel, water and motion-sickness tablets if you are sensitive; reef-safe sunscreen helps protect the bays. Many tours include hotel pickup, but pickup points and timings vary.
