Antalya Airport to Fethiye: Complete Travel Guide

Fethiye lies roughly 200 km west of Antalya Airport, with a road distance of about 205-215 km depending on the route. Oludeniz, the resort village famous for its lagoon, is a further 15 km south of Fethiye, around 20 minutes by car. The drive typically takes 3 to 3.5 hours by car or private transfer, longer by bus. Two routes exist: the inland yayla road is faster, while the coastal sahil road is slower but more scenic. Because Fethiye is closer to Dalaman Airport (DLM, about 50 km), many travellers compare both airports before booking. If your flight only lands at Antalya, the overland trip is straightforward but long, so plan for a comfortable vehicle and a rest stop.

For a 200 km journey, a private transfer is the most comfortable way to reach Fethiye or Oludeniz. A driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign, helps with luggage, and takes you directly to your hotel door, no changes, no waiting. The price is fixed per vehicle rather than per person, so families and small groups often find it good value over such a distance. Booking by WhatsApp is quick, flights are tracked so a delay is not a problem, and free child seats can be arranged in advance. After a long flight, having a known fixed price and a single ride for the whole 3 to 3.5 hour drive removes a lot of stress, especially with children or late arrivals.

If you have not yet booked flights, check Dalaman Airport (DLM). It sits only about 50 km from Fethiye and roughly 75 km from Oludeniz, cutting the transfer to around an hour. For a holiday based entirely in Fethiye, Oludeniz, Hisaronu or Kalkan, flying into Dalaman usually means a shorter, cheaper transfer and less time on the road. Antalya makes more sense if you also plan to explore Antalya city, Side, Belek or Kemer, or if flight prices and schedules to Antalya are clearly better. Compare the total cost of flight plus transfer for both airports. Sometimes a slightly pricier flight to Dalaman saves hours and money once the long Antalya transfer is added in.

There is no direct bus from Antalya Airport to Fethiye, so the budget route takes some patience. First reach Antalya's main bus station (Otogar) using the airport tram or the 600 bus, then board an intercity coach to Fethiye with companies such as Pamukkale or Bati Antalya Tur. The bus leg alone runs about 3.5 to 5 hours depending on whether it follows the inland or coastal road, and total door-to-door time with transfers is often 5 to 6 hours. Tickets are inexpensive, typically a few hundred lira, making this the cheapest choice for solo travellers on a budget. The trade-off is time, luggage handling, and a final taxi from Fethiye Otogar to Oludeniz or your hotel.

Most visitors come for Oludeniz, where a curved sandbar wraps a shallow, warm Blue Lagoon in impossible shades of turquoise, sheltered as a protected nature park. Behind the beach rises Babadag mountain at 1,969 metres, one of the world's top tandem paragliding sites. Flights launch from platforms around 1,700-1,900 metres after a 30-40 minute minibus ride up the mountain, then glide 25 to 35 minutes over the coast before landing on the beach. The season runs roughly April to November, weather permitting. Beyond the lagoon, explore the ghost village of Kayakoy, the Lycian rock tombs above Fethiye, boat trips around the Twelve Islands, and the start of the long-distance Lycian Way.

Book your transfer or bus in advance in peak summer, when Fethiye and Oludeniz fill quickly. The drive is long, so carry water, snacks and any motion-sickness remedies, as the final stretch into Oludeniz is winding. Confirm whether your accommodation is in Fethiye centre, Calis Beach, Oludeniz, Hisaronu or Ovacik, since these are spread out and affect transfer time and price.
