Antalya Airport to Aspendos Theatre Transfer

Aspendos Theatre (Aspendos Tiyatrosu) was built in the 2nd century AD during the Roman period and is famous for its remarkable state of preservation. The towering stage building, the curved tiers of seating and the high outer walls remain largely intact, giving visitors a rare sense of how a Roman theatre actually looked and worked.

The acoustics are the theatre's great talking point. Sound carries clearly from the stage to the upper rows without any modern amplification, a quality that still impresses audiences and is often tested by visitors who speak or clap from the centre of the orchestra.

Beyond the theatre itself, the wider archaeological site includes the remains of a Roman aqueduct, a basilica and other structures spread across the surrounding hillside. Together they make Aspendos one of the most rewarding ancient destinations in the Antalya region.

The drive from Antalya Airport to Aspendos runs roughly 48 km and usually takes about 45 minutes door to door. The route heads east, mostly along the smooth D400 coastal highway that links the airport with Belek, Serik and Side.

After leaving the airport area the road passes farmland, orange groves and pine-covered slopes, with the Taurus Mountains rising inland to the north. Near Serik the journey turns off the main highway onto a quieter local road that leads up to the theatre and its car park.

Because the price is fixed per vehicle, the fare does not change if traffic is heavier in the busy summer months. Your driver tracks your flight, so even if you land early or late, someone is there waiting and the agreed price stays the same.

Transfers to Aspendos start from €23 for an economy car and from €30 for a Vito minivan, with the price set per vehicle for one way rather than per person. A small group travelling together therefore shares one clear fare.

Aspendos began as an ancient city whose roots reach back well before the Roman era, but it reached its peak under Roman rule, when the theatre and many public buildings were constructed. The theatre is traditionally linked to the architect Zenon and was funded by two local brothers, a detail recorded in inscriptions at the site.

Allow roughly one to two hours to explore comfortably. The theatre itself can be seen fairly quickly, but the aqueduct and other ruins on the hill reward a longer, slower visit for those interested in the full ancient city.

The site is suitable for families, though small children should be supervised on the steep seating and uneven paths. Each year Aspendos also hosts an international opera and ballet festival, when the ancient stage comes back to life for live performances.
